WORSHIP AT MT. CALVARY

A Word about worship

Why we worship

Worship is one of the most important things we get to do as Christians. In the early days of Christianity, the Bible tells us that the first followers of Jesus "devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer" (Acts 2:42). They understood that in worship they receive the gifts that God gives and are forgiven and strengthened by His Word.

This is why we, at Mt. Calvary, gather together each week around God's Word and Sacraments. As we listen, learn, pray, and sing, Jesus comes to us with His gifts so that we may be forgiven and strengthened to serve and bless others, just as He has served us.

When We Worship

The following are the current worship opportunities we offer at Mt. Calvary:
-Traditional Sunday Worship: 9am-
(Time of Fellowship following service)

-Christian Education Hour: 10:30am-
(Various classes for all ages are offered)
At certain times of the year, we offer additional evening worship services. Typically these services are offered in December, February and March. These services are preceded by a group meal. Please check out our calendar for the dates and times of these extra services.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What is Mt. Calvary's Worship style?
Many people ask about our worship style. Generally speaking, our worship style is traditional.  We follow a similar order of service each week to help us focus on God's Word.  Although we use a variety of music, we often will sing traditional hymns and songs. Occasionally will have special music provided by our choir, handbells, and brass ensembles.
What to expect when I arrive?
When you arrive at Mt. Calvary, you can expect to be greeted by many friendly faces who will gladly welcome you and help point you in the right direction as you make your way to the sanctuary.

Ushers will be there to greet you at the sanctuary doors and provide you with a service bulletin.  If you have any questions about our service or need assistance, the ushers will be happy to assist you.

what should I wear?
When it comes to dress, it is a matter of personal preference.  We welcome you to come as you are! At our services you’ll find individuals who are dressed more formally as well as individuals in casual attire (jeans included).  We want you to feel comfortable as you worship with us!
What about my kids?
If you have small children, they are always welcome to worship with us. In fact, we love it when families worship together! At the same time we realize that all families have different needs, so we do provide a supervised nursery for pre-school aged children that runs simultaneously with our services. There is also a diaper changing station available in the nursery for your convenience.
If you have any questions about our worship experience, please reach out to us. We are happy to help!
