Silent Witnesses: A Lenten Journey
This Lenten season as you reflect on God's love and mercy for you, we'd love you to join us in this devotional journey. We will be referring to these devotions to complement what we hear during our Sunday Worship Services, Midweek Lenten Services, and Bible Studies. We will also create an online community through Facebook where you can dive deeper into this Lenten Journey. You can join us on Facebook by clicking here.
If you would like to pick up a printed copy of this devotional, we will make them available in the Fellowship Hall and the Church Office. You can also download a booklet in one of the many formats at the bottom of this page.
About the Series
Did you ever wish that you could have been there at Jesus’ passion? Imagine what it would be like:
- to hear the crowds shout “Hosanna!” as Jesus rode into Jerusalem
- to smell and taste the feast at the Passover
- to see Jesus carrying His cross to Golgotha
- to touch the nail-wounds in Jesus’ hands when He rose from the dead
While we cannot do that ourselves, the men and women who were eyewitnesses of these events left their testimony in the pages of the Gospels. John tells us, “These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). But there were silent witnesses, too—objects, animals and places that played a part during key moments of Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection. We find them in the pages of the Gospels as well. Though they cannot speak, they still show His love and mercy toward us.
